A sun a few texels across lit scenes up to 71 times too bright. MoonRay's light sampling is fixed and matches Cycles.

Every area light shape

Ellipse and stretched disk area lights now light the scene, and Spread keeps a light's power as Cycles does.

N-gons

Concave faces, right

L-shaped cards, stars and floor plans render as Blender splits them, instead of covering their notches.

System requirements for Windows
Operating system	Windows 10 version 1903 or newer, or Windows 11, 64-bit
Processor	64-bit with AVX2: Intel Core 4th generation (2013) or newer, or any AMD Ryzen. The setup checks and stops without it.
Blender	4.5 LTS or newer
Graphics card	Not needed: MoonRay renders on the CPU. NVIDIA GPU rendering is in testing.
Memory	MoonRay itself starts at about 150 MB; the rest is what your scene needs. Textures are streamed, so they can exceed your RAM.
Disk space	250 MB to download, 565 MB installed, plus room for the texture cache
Administrator rights	Not needed: it installs for your Windows account

What's the difference between the tiers?

Only who each one is for and its minimum price. Every tier gets the same full add-on and the same updates.

Will it run on my computer?

If you have Windows 10 or 11, a processor with AVX2 (an Intel Core from 2013 or later, or any AMD Ryzen) and Blender 4.5 or newer, yes. A graphics card isn't needed.

Is there a free version?

No. MoonRay for Blender starts at $5, and what you pay keeps its development going. Students can email luwizart@gmail.com for a free copy.

Do I get fixes?

Yes. Fixes for the version you download are free. Every release is listed in the changelog.

Who handles payment?

Paddle, our reseller, handles checkout, invoices and sales tax. It is a one-time payment with no subscription.
